Beirut is the capital city of Lebanon. It has about two million inhabitants and is located on the Mediterranean Sea.
It is served by Rafik Hariri International Airport (BEY), located approximately ten minutes from the city center (without traffic).
The hosting institution, the American University of Beirut (AUB), an independent, nonsectarian university, is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the Middle East. The university occupies a beautiful wooded campus overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, located in Hamra, a central, cosmopolitan neighborhood in Beirut. Many modern hotels can found within walking distance to the university. Average high and low temperatures in March are 19°C and 13°C.
We are aware that security is a concern to visitors to Beirut. AUB maintains a page with safety and security information.
